pH Acid - Alkaline Balance

Key pH and body function information:
1. pH is a measurement scale that measures the acid - alkaline properties.
2. The midpoint of the pH scale is 7.0, which indicates the neutral point that is neither acid nor alkaline. Water is neutral and it normally measures 7.0 pH.
3. pH below 7.0 is acidic. pH above 7.0 is alkaline.
4. The pH scale is logarithmic, which means that for every whole number from 7.0 pH the concentration factor for acid or alkaline changes by a factor of 10. For example, on the chart above shows that going from 7.0 pH to 5.0 pH the concentration factor changes by 100.
3. The body keeps the blood at 7.4 pH plus or minus of 0.1 pH. If the body can not keep the blood at 7.4 pH, you die. Therefore this is a critical body regulation function.
4. The body generates acid when performing important functions that include:
Breathing
Digesting proteins that are required for repairing the body
Exercising
Performing metabolic repair functions
5. You give the body an extra acid load that needs to be immediately neutralized when you:
Eat fast foods and processed foods
Drink acidic beverages (these contain phosphoric acid) Examples are: Coke, Pepsi, 7 Up, Dr. Pepper, etc.
6. When the body generates acid or gets an extra acid input, it must neutralize the acid immediately to keep the blood at 7.4 pH so it's first choice is to take minerals from your tissue, bones, and teeth.
